Style T1 is
the most basic of thermocouple designs consisting
of a metallic sheath and flexible leadwire.
The sheath is composed of rigid mineral
insulated cable of varying size and material
configurations. The attachment of leadwire
is facilitated by the addition of a transition
fitting, which in most cases is mechanically
crimped and epoxied or brazed directly to
the sheath. If a transition fitting is not
desired, ask for a smooth transition. The
transition body is completely encapsulated
with an epoxy compound that provides protection
and insulation for the solder joints.
Many options are available
for leadwire insulation as well as termination
and installation methods. The most common
configurations are outlined in the T1
selection chart.
