These
plates are used for most flow meter
applications because they are so easy
to reproduce, low cost, easy to install
and remove and have very small error.
Orifice plates are best used in clean
non-viscous fluids and are generally
used for Pipe Reynolds Numbers above
8000. Flow coefficient data for concentric
bored orifices are available for flange
taps, corner taps, pipe taps, vena
contracta taps and radius taps. Concentric
bored orifice plates that are used
for two-way flow applications should
be specified as for two-way flow.
In this case, no bevel is placed on
the orifice bore.
